Talk to me and give me $$$
For your benefit
I used to coach people. This was quite fun. I am doing it again.
Here is my FAQ:
Do I have to pay you?
Yes. My rates are £5, £58 or £500.43 depending on which you would prefer to pay. Pay me via paypal hbesceli@gmail.com
If you like helping people so much why do I have to pay you?
I like helping people but I also like money. I like to print it out and cover myself in butter and roll around in it so I look like an expensive chicken.
Also there’s a £5 option you cheapskate.
Is this serious? I notice that everything you have said so far seems not very serious.
This is a good point, and arguably I got carried away whilst writing this. But no I am actually serious, coaching people seems fun and I’m keen to do more of it. Also despite appearances I expect to be have the appropriate level of seriousness in any of the coachings.
Do you have a coaching methodology?
Hmmm… no not really. I expect to be more along the lines of ‘hmmm that’s interesting, tell me more’ than ‘ah yes, you should try x technique and do this four point plan’. More in the direction of curiosity, plus occassional jokes which are carefully calibrated to the emotional ambience. Also I like circling.
I feel like you’ve put £5 as a joke option, but actually you expect me to pay £500.43 and if I just pay £5 then you are going to judge me? So I’m not going to sign up, but I would in fact actually be happy to pay £5
Yeh this is a tricky one. Here are some potential options:
Paypal me £4.63 and see if I notice that it’s below the minimum required.
Write me a cheque for £500.43 and bank on me never cashing the cheque.
Book a coaching session with me to work through you’re feelings around guilt and money
Pay me in impact certificates
Is this actually a good idea? Do you have any qualifications? What about hard empirical data of your effectiveness? Or outstanding accomplishments perhaps?
I mean, maybe. I’ve heard somewhere that the main predictor of how effective therapy is how well you vibe with your therapist, so it will probably be great.
Qualifications. I went through TBCT coaching coaching programme. I also studied Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Oxford (which is a very prestigious university). Also, fyi I’m not a licensed doctor or lawyer, and nothing I ever say should constitute medical advice, and I take no responsibility for anything that happens so you can’t sue me.
In terms of hard empirical data, for the people that I coached for more than a week my average was this good score was 8.5/10 (n=3).
Also, my favourite testimonial is this one: ‘Harri is super down-to-earth. I recommend him for anyone who wants a normal dude who's very good and dedicated in thinking through how to change their lives.’ (a real person wrote this).
I can’t remember any outstanding accomplishments of the top of my head.
Also, I’m likely just as mystified about the human condition as you, if not more so. I probably don’t have any solutions to your problems, but I will likely have questions and ideas, and these could transmogrify things into a state which more closely resembles desired outcomes.
(also, I do actually think I’m like reasonably good at this. Not stellar, but like reasonably good)
What if I am your friend? What if we have never met?
Yes. Yes. If we’ve never met maybe message me saying hi.
Also feel free to send people this post if you think they would find it useful.
Also, I do one off and regular. But if you want regular lets have a one off first.
Why are you doing this coaching again?
Good question. Also, I’m not sure coaching is the right frame.
Basically, I quite like chatting to people about their problems. I’m not sure if that’s weird but I think it’s ok.
Also, I think that chatting to people about problems can be quite useful. I have many problems, and whenever I chat to people about them, often it’s useful. Also despite this, if I’m not careful, which happens occassionally, I can forget this and not talk to people about my problems.
Also, I think life can be hard, and I want to support people in being better versions of themselves and/ or making the world a better place.
This sounds like a great idea which I completely endorse and I expect would benefit from however my hand is already moving my mouse to the exit button of this window
Also if you choose the £584.34 option you get a free Shia mouse mat.
